Hi my name is Sue (aka DownUnderScraps), for those who would like to know what I think of the new Safari Lounde Classes for learning designing, here it is… I am so glad I joined because I am learning heaps of new stuff and also enjoying the classes. The videos are also great because they really explain things and if you miss something you can restart or pause them when and as often as you need so you can follow the instructions. I am enjoying learning how to use Gimp as I have only used Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

What's inside the Safari Lounge Designer Classes
The Safari Lounge Designer Classes has five different Modules:
1
Module 1: Your Foundation
Position yourself as a Graphic Designer and/or Illustrator. We will find out why graphic sets are evergreen products and how you can build a profitable career around those.
We'll also talk about the essential equipment you need to make sure that your business becomes a success.
Our goal in this module is to get the big picture. At the end of module 1 you'll know what products you can create, how you will create them and what you need to do so. You'll also have your designer name and you'll also get an overview what else you need to do to become successful as a digital designer!

Module 2: Creating a Graphic Set
Bevor we can dive into product creation you need to be crystal clear about the fact that everything you do starts with a high quality product. Your product defines your style, it positions you, it lets your customers know what you have to offer them.
So yes, your product is essential and you need to know what to include to make it stand out!
You have two options: You can create a pixel or a vector based product. When you decide to go for a pixel based product you can draw your elements traditionally with pencil and paper while you need to use a vector based program if you want to create vector based images. We will talk about the options you have and you can choose from our library what you want to learn.
If you do not want to illustrate images on your own you can skip this module and dive right into module 3.

Module 3: Create Creative Digital Products
Modul 3 is an ongoing module. You'll get new workshops each month. So basically once you have picked your style and decided if you want to go for pixel- or vector based images for your products we can start creating your digital products. However, if you want to skip module 2 completely you can do as well and use graphic sets from other designers. If you are rather a graphic designer than an illustrator module 3 is where you move on with your journey. I show you different kind of products you can create and you can pick the workshops which are interesting for you!

Module 4: Packaging & Presenting your Product
Presenting your Product in a great way is essential for your success. What does it help if your product image looks good but your customer doesn't know what he can do with it? That's why we really need to put our heart and soul into product presentation and show what your peeps can do with it!
Once you have created your digital product, no matter if you have used your own material or another designer's graphic sets you can move to the next stage: Packaging and presenting your product. So in this module we will take care of preview images you need to create as well as your packaging.

Module 5: Selling your Product
Your job isn't done once your product is ready. Now is time to show what you have created to the (online) world. You need to show what you can do with the product. You need to use it and you definitely need to spread the word about it. I show you effective ways to make your designs known.
About Your Safari Lounge Teacher, Monja
If we have just meet: Hi! My name is Monja and I'm the owner of Digidesignresort since 2008. When I first started I just wanted to be the "Admin of a big Website" - just like the guys from Two Peas in a Bucket those days.
I love Photography, it was my main subject at University, and that's why I -most probably- stumbled over digital scrapbooking and was hooked! Until today I still love to tell my story with pictures but also with a pencil - or on my computer.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of hybrid scrapbooking because it allows me to print out the scrapbook papers and embellishments I create when I need them - this is eco-friendly and I don't need to store so much material (just on my computer ;-) )
I finally became the owner of a big Scrapbooking Site, Digidesignresort, and there were times when we had 40+ Designers on the site, a huge creative team, their manager, a great and active forum and many lovely people and friends. There we sold digital Scrapbooking Kits.
So over the years I have learned a lot about which digital scrapbooking sets (or graphic sets in general, because that's what they, too, actually are!) sell and which not. I know what quality designs are and what not. Since 2009 I support new and promising designers to create their own digital products (not "only" digital scrapbooking sets) to sell them. And I know how to set up an online business - because I learned it with lots of trial and error.
In the Safari Lounge Designer Classes we will no longer just concentrate on digital scrapbooking kits, because, let's face it - the market is kinda limiting. It's just one of many digital products you can create and sell as a graphic designer or illustrator.
That's why I expanded the Safari Lounge Designer Classes. At the end of the class you know what a good design is, you know the tools you need to create a product and you'll have your own portfolio as well as your first fans and hopefully sales.
