Hi everyone - me again. This is a little tutorial I thought I'd share again. It's nothing really fancy but for alot of people, I think they wouldn't know how to do this. So really this is aimed more at the beginner with some knowledge of brushes to Intermediate level scrapper. Hope you have much fun with it and I'd love it if you'd share your layouts trying this technique with us here.
Here is a little trick to fancy up a layout quick and easy using photoshop brushes. You will need some knowledge of brushes to do this. I've tryed to include the view of my screen to make a little more easy for you.
The idea is to use brushes to make your papers into something more interesting. In this case I used a maple leave brush No. 74 (standard with photoshop CS2 and up but probably also availble as a standard inclusion with older photoshop programs also).
1. This brush when selected I believe has a preset scatter already attached to it. For this layout I had to adjust the scatter so it wasn't so close and enlarged it in size to about 453 pixels and spacing (under brush tip shape) to about 290% and I changed the scatter (under scattering) to 41%. This is something you will need to play around with to make to your liking.
2. After getting the brush to what I think will be OK - make a new layer and with black selected as your top colour - give the brush a try out. You can go back in your history if you don't like the result and then try again, or delete the layout and start again with a new one.
3. Once you have something that you like - I then just added the paper above that layer and clipped the yellow/gold paper to it like you would with a normal template. (CS2 and up - Ctrl Alt G) (under CS2 programs I think it's Ctrl G - but don't quote me on that).
4. Added shadows to it - I nearly always add shadows to everything - adds dimension to your layouts.
I hope you have been able to follow this mini tutorial as I'm not a professional tutorial writter. LOL. This can be used for any of the brushes you have. All the best to you and please do add your layouts here in this thread if you give this a go. I'd love to see what you come up with and hear about your experiences with this tutorial.
this is all come from the Joyful Candy Christmas Add On - consists of just 2 papers and 1 cluster frame element.
and my final layout.
Hope you enjoyed this mini tutorial. Want to see more - let me know. Thanks

Great brush tut Carena, thank you! I find that when I tend not to use something in PS for awhile, I forget and this is a fabulous reminder and demonstration of the power of brushes.
