Lately we’ve seen a lot of adults getting hooked on crafts and scrapbooks. Perhaps it is because people tend to seek for their childhood joys whenever they have they have the chance to do so. Or maybe unleashing our creativity helps us cope with the stresses of daily life. But for whatever reason it is, we need to follow our hearts to find our own happiness. Just like making digital scrapbooks, the good old traditional style was one of the earliest form of craft we all engaged in as young kids. We’re used to creating intricate designs and elements but now that it’s available on digital format, there are no limits as long as you have something easy and nice to start with.
If you still haven’t heard of Bekky Higgins’ Project Life Digital Scrapbook, this is the time for you to discover and explore your creative prowess. You’ll be amazed how simple and user friendly it is to use. You can download the template and kit here in order to start. After that, follow these steps and you’ll go a long way after that like us.
If you’re curious how we were able to make that pretty layout above, we’ll show you through this easy to follow tutorial. Let’s begin by opening one of the free templates we’ve downloaded from bekkyhiggins.com in Adobe Photoshop Elements
To move forward, simply hide the first layer which is the title page of the template.
Now, open any kit you want and choose one from the pre-made images.
Using the Move Tool, drag the image to the template on the bottom as displayed
Re-size the image if it is too big, and position it on tope of the portion of the collage where you want to put it. We are trying to put the image on the top most left corner rectangle like this one
On the layers panel, make sure that the image is immediately placed before the rectangle layer where you want to put it. Then go to Layer > Create Clipping Mask
Your template should now look like this one:
Keep repeating the same to the other parts of the collage. You can also add your own pictures and even texts.
Once you’ve filled out the rest of the rectangles, you’re done with your first digital scrapbook page! You can save it then print it and put it in the page protectors or even to your scrapbooks. You may also try other templates for your other projects.
You’ll definitely have fun trying this out!
