Father’s Day is just around the corner and for Father’s Day, let your kids express their appreciation with a superhero dad drawing page. This provides them with a place to write and draw on a layout ready to be given to dad. Here’s how you could make one with GIMP.
Superhero Dad Drawing Page
Open an 8.5 x 11 inch image on a portrait orientation.
Using the Rectangle Select Tool, highlight an area for drawing.
You can increase each image by clicking on it so you can easily see all settings used.
Set the FG color to your desired margin color. Go to Edit > Stroke Selection and adjust the line width to 6 pixels. Click OK to apply the margin.
Using the Free Select tool, create some sort of a cartoony shape used in comic books, like the one I made below. Fill it with your desired color or use a digital paper to fill it up, like this yellow textured one from Digidesignresort‘s Back to School kit.
Stroke the selected area with a bold edge using the Stroke Selection option under Edit.
Using the Text tool, add a headline, title, or message at the top. Then at the bottom, you could put a blank line for your child to write their name on or you could put something like “from your biggest fan”. You can then proceed with printing.
Here is my drawing page, straight from the printer.
Have your son, or nephew in my case, draw on the page about what type of superhero they think their dad is.
The end product is priceless to any dad who receives it. You can download the PDF here and print it out!
