What are digital scrapbooking kits?
Traditional Paper Scrapbooking supplies usually do not come in a kit – means usually you have to buy papers and elements separately. In digital scrapbooking this is different. You can get a huge set considered as a digital scrapbooking kit with elements and papers. Sometimes your digital scrapbooking kit contains even clusters, stacked papers and an alpha included, depending on the designer. A digital scrapbooking kit has several advantages towards a traditional scrapbooking kit. The biggest advantage ever is that you can re-use the items you get mostly as a download bundle (you can also order them on DVD). And one thing I really like: I don’t have a huge mess. Once I turn off my computer I’m finished. I don’t need a separate room to sort my stuff and I don’t spend 100s of Dollar to finish one single photo book.
Things have changed: before you had a digital camera the only way to get your photos was to ask a photo service to print them out. Today you mostly don’t print them. You load them to your computer and just ask online services to print the best ones. Or you create a digital product such as DVD with a slideshow and text (as I described in the Muvee Tutorial). There is not much need anymore for paper scrapbooking. Many people of course still do paper scrapbooking the traditional way just because they have never heard of digital scrapbooking kits. That’s fine but maybe it’s time to change. Even if you still want to do it the traditional way – you could print out digital scrapbooking items on your home printer, cut them and use as a traditional scrapbook.
All digital scrapbooking kits are created in 300 dpi. This means that they are optimized for printing. But you can also create your scrapbook in a photo editing program or scrapbooking software and ask an online photo service to print them. Whatever you do – you’ll have a great scrapbook which will help you to preserve your memories forever.
